SPEC CLASS RACING FOR PROS
Novak's award-winning SS Pro Brushless Motors offer a world-class spec-racing experience. Each SS Pro motor is equipped with a nickel-plated sintered Neodymium rotor for maximum motor acceleration, braking power and performance in high-temperature conditions, and Thermal Overload technology to ensure the motor is operating at a safe temperature. The SS Pro motors also feature a shielded-sensor cable and a completely rebuildable design, allowing for the ability to upgrade or replace various motor parts. In addition, each motor is identified by a color-specific timing ring for simple differentiation between spec motors: 8.5 – black, 10.5 – blue, 13.5 – orange, 17.5 – yellow and 21.5 – green.
The SS Pro brushless motors are equipped with all of the great standard features found on all Novak motors, including a convenient Solder Tab System for easy wire replacement; Sensor-Based Technology for excellent starting torque, low-speed drivability, and smooth acceleration; the same Oversized Front Bearing used in Novak’s Velociti-series motors that is more rugged, extra durable and helps extend motor life: and a set of lightweight, aluminum end bells that not only reduce the overall weight of the motor, but also acts as a heat sink by efficiently removing excessive heat from the motor.
WHICH SS PRO TO CHOOSE?
Based on Novak’s Velociti-Series Racing brushless motors, Novak's SS Pro racing brushless motors are available in five motor winds:
- SS8.5 Pro Brushless Motor is 8.5 turns and is the fastest of the SS Pro-Series motors. It is also a great choice for off-road racing and general applications (#3408)
- SS10.5 Pro Brushless Motor is 10.5 turns and approved for ROAR spec-brushless racing (#3410)
- SS13.5 Pro Stock Brushless Motor is 13.5 turns and ROAR approved for Super Stock spec-brushless racing. Its lower speed provides better vehicle control for newer drivers and longer run-times for those wanting to get more practice time on the track (#3413)
- SS17.5 Pro Brushless Motor is 17.5 turns and is ideal for use in vintage Trans-Am racing and is approved for ROAR Stock spec-brushless racing (#3417)
- SS21.5 Pro Brushless Motor is 21.5 turns and is the slowest motor in the SS Pro Series. It was specifically designed to offer oval, vintage Trans-Am and beginning drivers an even slower option, which makes it ideal for extended run times. The motor is also approved for ROAR spec-brushless racing (#3421).
SENSOR-BASED DESIGN
Of its many features, the SS Pro's sensor-based design allows for most of the motors' important benefits.
- No Cogging--Thanks to constantly knowing the rotor position, the motor provides instantaneous throttle response and smooth transitions from neutral to drive. The rotor position knowledge is attained due to the ESC and motor being continuously synchronized via the motor harness.
- Smooth & Controlled Low Speed Driveability--Always knowing the rotor angle is key to smooth acceleration without delivering abrupt and uncontrolled bursts of power.
- Strong/Consistent Brakes & Starting Torque--Rotor position knowledge results in consistent starts and stops, without hesitation or inconsistent lag times before acceleration or braking--this translates to consistant lap times.
- Thermal Protection--Temperature sensors inside motor provide unparalleled thermal protection, allowing you to run pack after pack without worrying about overheating the motor, ESC or magnets.
ESC COMPATIBILITY
The SS Pro Brushless Motors are compatible with all Novak brushless ESCs, including:
- #1710 GTB Programmable Brushless/Brush ESC
- #1711 GTB Spread Spectrum Brushless/Brush ESC
- #1733 Havoc 3S Brushless/Brush ESC
GTB Brush/Brushless ESC is available factory-wired to
SS Pro-8.5 -- 17.5.
Havoc Spec Brush/Brushless ESC is available factory-wired to
SS Pro-10.5 -- 21.5.
RACE READY
Several SS Pro Brushless Motors are available in a combo system. For top-speed, spec-racing, the SS Pro Brushless Motors (#3408-#3417) are available factory-wired to a GTB Programmable Racing Brushless/Brush ESC (#1710).

For racing at local clubs and tracks, the SS Pro Brushless Motors (#3410-#3421) are available factory-wired to a Havoc Spec Brushless/Brush ESC. The Havoc Spec System is the ultimate spec-class racing package. It’s the most affordable sensored-spec system on the market and offers long runtimes.
